THERE’S no denying that parenting can be a real test of patience, especially with the rising cost of living. From keeping them warm and dry to putting food on the table, it can be a struggle for many parents. And it’s no surprise that with all this pressure on, it can leave some families on the brink of financial collapse.

So it’s no surprise that a mum from Shropshire took to social media to share her shopping haul from the retailer in the hope of helping other families save some money. Her post, which saw a total of 27 dresses for girls aged two to 14 at just PS17 each, was met with praise and gratitude, with users praising the value of the brand’s clothing range.

One comment from a happy customer read: ‘So pleased with my purchase, love the midi dress. It’s a gorgeous colour, very flattering and so soft!’ The floral frock, which is by Et Vous and costs PS27, is also a five-star winner on Matalan’s website.

However, despite the high praise, a number of parents have slammed the retailer for stocking’sexualised’ girls clothing, with one mother saying she had ‘a hard time finding anything appropriate for her nine-year-old’. Other mums, who have shared their finds from the store, have criticised the length of girls’ shorts on the high street, with a number calling for a change in gender stereotyping within childrenswear design and marketing.
